If you’re interested in amateur and professional bodybuilding competitions then FitnessAtlantic is the site for you. The vast amount of information on the site is completely free to access and covers a good range of bodybuilding issues. The site is also tailored to give information on specific bodybuilding aims and goals, such as desiring a bikini body, or to be a male muscle model. More so than many of the bodybuilding programs around, the site offers a lot of information for women, as well as men.
What’s most impressive about Fitness Atlantic is the amount of information that is provided for free. This is in part aided by the community feel of the site, with its various links to social networking and forum chats. Whilst there’s plenty of information available, however, it isn’t all that focused on the actual specifics of workout programs, and you may have to hunt around for programs which will suit what you’re looking for.
So how does the site make its money? Well you’ll notice that there’s a large focus on competitive body building and helping you achieve your way to having your photo appear on magazine covers or acquire sponsorship. FitnessAtlantic holds massive public events in which its members compete for top bodybuilding prizes and promotions. You’ll find tickets on sale for these events, as well as a large online store which sells everything from supplements to diet guides. However if you don’t have the money to invest in diet guides then the site also provides some downloadable e-books, printable schedules and diet diaries free of charge.
The site suffers somewhat from the sheer amount of information it has, and its organisation. The home page is full of pictures and flashing promotions. Whilst these might be of interest to some users they do clutter the place up and might be better off in a separate section of the site. A more complex search option would also be a great benefit here as the basic search available simply returns too many results. We would also like to see a few more online, interactive tools for tracking progress. In terms of customer care, we could find no way of contacting FitnessAtlantic.com, so acquiring direct advice from a human being might be quite difficult. It’s hard to complain too much about this, though, given that the site itself has such a lot of information on it and provides some avenues for speaking to other members. Signing up is also incredibly quick, although tailoring the information a little more to your specific needs would help you to find the vital information and sift past the bits that are irrelevant to you.
Overall we were impressed by the free information on the site. Whilst it could improve on the actual practical workout and dietary information, particularly in terms of making it specific to your needs, the vast majority of the bodybuilding information is available for free. We were also interested in the site’s focus on competitive body building and helping people to gain photo shoots and magazine cover photos, which shows a real dedication to their cause. If you’re interested in the world of bodybuilding shows and competitive building then this is a site you shouldn’t ignore..
